John McCain will appear on David Letterman's "Late Show" Thursday, officials said, presumably to patch up hard feelings left by the GOP candidate's awkward snub of the funnyman last month.
The Arizona senator was set to appear on Letterman's show three weeks ago but abruptly pulled out, saying he was going to rush back to Washington and work on the financial rescue plan. Only he didn't.
Much to McCain's embarrassment, Letterman found an internal CBS feed showing the senator in a makeup chair, ready to talk to anchor Katie Couric during the "Late Show" taping.
