USHER in autumn smelling super-yummy in new scents. We're fans of these: (1) Lalique "Amethyst," $110 at Bergdorf Goodman, is berry delicious and smells like black currant and raspberry.
(2) Coach "Legacy" is floral without being old-lady, $75 at Coach stores. (3) Salvatore Ferragamo "Tuscan Soul," $80 at Ferragamo boutiques, will take you to Italy with its citrus and woodsy vibe.
(4) Christina Aguilera's "Inspire," $59 at Macy's, is surprisingly sexy with hints of rose, tuberose and sandalwood. (5) David Yurman's
self-titled scent, $165 at davidyurman.com, is mostly patchouli and musk - and not for the weak-nosed. (6) Metropolitan Opera star soprano Renée Fleming just launched "La Voce," $200 at Saks Fifth Avenue (proceeds benefit the Metropolitan Opera), a passion fruit-and-white truffle meets chocolate mousse-y scent. (7) Chanel No. 5 "Eau Premiere," $125 at department stores, has been reworked to highlight the fragrance's ylang-ylang and French jasmine top notes. (8) Jessica Simpson's "Fancy," $59 at Macy's, is sugar and spice - and what girls are made of.
* Face First: Give good face at all times with these: (1) Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Gold Ultra Lift and Strethening Eye Capsules, $52 at shopelizabetharden.com - the single-dose capsules brighten under-eye issues. (2) Shu Uemura Brightening Cleansing Oil, $75 at shuuemura-usa.com - because nobody likes a girl who gets makeup all over the pillowcase. (3) Lorac Natural Performance Foundation, now in oil, fragrance and paraben-free formula for sensitive skin, $35 at Sephora.
(4) Nars Firming Foundation, $50 at nars cosmetics.com, provides coverage and stimulates collagen. (5) Boots Sensitive Gentle Cleansing Wash, $4.50 at Target, is a bargain buy for skin prone to breakouts.
* Eye spy: The long and short of it is the same; new mascara formulas and brushes remain one of the best parts about a trip to department store beauty floors. Try these:
(1) Estée Lauder TurboLash, $30 at esteelauder.com. Girls like vibrating things, and this mascara does just that. Score! (2) DuWop Lash Venom, $24 at sephora.com. If the mascara will do to our eyes what Lip Venom does to our kissers, we'll take two. (3) Prescriptives Lash Envy Mascara in brown, $19.50 at prescriptives.com. Its best mascara now comes in colors.
* Nailing it: Here's the kind of gray lady we don't mind - this season's hottest polish hues in varying shades of doom:
(1) Essie "Great Expectations," $8 at essie.com.
(2) Rescue Beauty Lounge "Stormy," $18 at rescuebeauty.com. (3) O.P.I. "You Don't Know Jacques!," $7.50 at haircarechoices.com.
* Purple reign: It's the
color of the season and great for every skin tone. We love: (1) YSL Ombre 5 Lumieres "Lilac Sky," $56 at yslbeautyus.com. (2) Elizabeth Arden "Black Currant," $24.50 at shopelizabetharden.com.
(3) Rock and Republic "Paranoid," $28 at Bloomingdale's. (4) Mac "Top Hat," $14.50 at maccosmetics.com.
* Black is the new pink: YSL's new "Gloss Pur Black" ($28) might look scary in the tube, but it's beautiful on your lips. We would know. We wore it around all weekend to make sure. And if you're still unsure and need some professional help, call 212-872-8654 to schedule a free appointment with a YSL makeup artist on Oct. 16-18 at Bergdorf Goodman to get the dish on runway beauty.
