It was hard to tell who was wearing more of the host designer's pieces at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show: the models or the crowd. Imitation might be the best form of flattery, but when three girls are wearing the same pink-and-black houndstooth bubble dress, it's a bit ridiculous. But that's what makes a Marc by Marc Jacobs show such a glorious scene. Rachel Zoe, Kelly Osbourne (who's getting skinnier by the day, it seems) and a slew of die-hard Marc Jacobs fans bopped to the remixed beats of M.I.A. as (smiling!) models skipped down the runway in one highly styled look after another. The girls looked cute, the boys were pretty (literally, they wore necklaces and eyelet printed shirts), and everyone walked away with a must-have list for spring.
Indeed, there was a medley of goodies, whether it was lace trimming, fanny packs, ruffled mini-skirts, rumpled babydoll dresses, stacked belts, black-and-white striped oxfords, rainbow-colored scarves, pill-box hats, or nutty knot necklaces – which looked as crazy as they sound and came in a variety of punchy colors. One highlight was the playsuit – and the favorite was a one-shouldered mini number shown in cherry red and fuschia colorblocking. Topped with a floral cummerbund, it screamed "backorder." Jacobs took a well-deserved bow in a white button down and red kilt – interesting choice, and one that's sure to be worn by many a guest at next season's show.
