PART soap opera, part soft-core gay sex movie, "No Regret" is the debut feature by Leesong Hee-il, who is said to be South Korea's first openly gay filmmaker.
"No Regret" is set in Seoul and centers around Sumin, an orphan turned teenage rent boy, and Jaemin, a handsome yuppie. They love each other, but there is a problem: Jaemin's conservative family is forcing him to marry a woman of his social class.
Mom doesn't care if he dallies with other men, as long as he's married. Nothing but trouble can arise from this situation; and it does, in the form of violence, death and attempted murder.
There is also a fair amount of boy-on-boy sex, which would be the main reason for seeing "No Regret," no matter what your sexual orientation might be.
In Korean, with English subtitles. Running time: 114 minutes. Rated R (sex, nudity, profanity, violence). At the Cinema Village, 12th Street, east of Fifth Avenue.
