The NYPD is investigating how the head of a black doll ended up on the radio antenna of an unmarked police car carrying two white cops.

Harlem residents and state Sen. Bill Perkins are up in arms, claiming the officers rode around with the head on the antenna throughout the day Tuesday.

An NYPD spokesman insisted the police car was not in service until 4 p.m.

The two cops, a lieutenant and his driver, told probers that at about 8:15 p.m. a pedestrian approached them about the doll's head.

"This is not appropriate," the man said.

The lieutenant told Internal Affairs officers he ordered his driver to get rid of it. The cop threw it away.

"Somebody pulled a prank on us," the lieutenant said, suggesting the doll might have been stuck on the antenna while the officers were away from the car.
