BEFORE Heidi Klum bids a ruthless auf Wiedersehen to any of this season's contenders, 16 new designers will get at least one hour of fame when "Project Runway" premieres on Bravo at 9 p.m. tomorrow.

Hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous winners - all of whom took home six-figure cash prizes - the newest batch comes from all over the US and represents all walks of education - from self-taught seamstresses to art college grads.
Of course New York -the fashion capital of America - is well-represented. Five live and work in the city. And six attended fashion schools here - three graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology, two from Parsons School of Design and one from the Pratt Institute.
