AUTISTIC HOOPS HERO SETS SCREEN

By LEONARD GREENE

February 26, 2007

Jason McElwain has only one suggestion for the producers putting together the potentially Oscar-worthy flick about the autistic Rochester teen's life.

He'd like to be played by Matthew McConaughey.

"It's been fun," McElwain, 18, said of his ride to stardom on an amazing high-school basketball performance that helped his team win a coveted title last year.

Not since "Hoosiers" - which earned two Academy Award nominations - has the hardwood produced so heartwarming a tale.

McElwain, deemed too small to play, rarely missed a game or practice as the Greece-Athena HS team manager. So the coach let him suit up for the final four minutes of the February 2006 finale - and he scored 20 points.

The video became an Internet sensation, but McElwain isn't sure his story can generate "Rocky"-like buzz.

Blackbird Entertainment's Mary Martin, his flick's co-producer, begs to differ. "I saw it . . . and started crying," she recalled.

Since then, McElwain has met President Bush, and talked with Oprah Winfrey.
